Winter

Winter has brought it’s first fall of snow,
while under the bridge the stream still flows.
Giving itself to all that exists,
whether ducks or swans, insects or fish.
There in the cottage the fire burns bright
shedding light and warmth, a welcome sight.
Wood in abundance to cut and share
among our neighbours both here and there.
Food for cattle, berries for birds,
God’s plenteous gifts beyond mere words.
The joy of giving to each one known.
then in receiving love’s bond is shown.
Gradually strengthening through the years
seeing beyond the seasons so clear.
To all that is steadfast, stable and true,
the gift of God Himself, flowing through.
Together as we come as One in the Lord,
to give thanks and praise on Christmas morn.
Then like the babe, He calls us to share
the gift of self, with all everywhere.
