Where Love Is

Where love is hope never dies,
where love is there suffering lies,
for true love imparts to pure hearts
sorrow and sadness from the start.
Love and compassion are the key
to all that lies in mystery,
though all go down the sharp incline
with sad reluctance feel resigned.
There comes a time when each must see
just where resignation will lead,
and there-in our decision lies,
to sink – or try to soar up high.
Accept that suffering is our due
then carry on and go right through,
rising above sorrow and pain
until we’re in the light again.
Using the knowledge we have gained
to love anew with heart’s aflame.
