Twilight ends and night appears
with it return all my fears,
startling noise disturbs my sleep,
no place of safety wherein to creep.
Night is long and shadows dark,
naught to hear but the thump of my heart,
restless turning to and fro,
will the daylight never show?
But come the dawn hope appears
setting at rest all my fears,
a new beginning for me to face
with the help of God’s good grace.
I will praise him even yet,
whenever fear my mind besets,
for silent as the rising morn,
his love will heal and fear will be gone.
