The death of a friend

Like a seed in your garden so new,
She was warm and faithful and true.
You saw how special she was, how sweet,
As she laid her gifts there at Your feet.

Through many years she flowered and grew
So full of love and knowledge of you,
Until at last You saw how she
Could show the rest of humanity
How Your love could help each one of us
If only we will believe, and trust
As she did Lord, though often in pain
She showed Your love again and again.

Teaching us all, Don’t be afraid,
The Lord is with you each hour of the day.
Until at last You called her to be,
Completely whole, completely free.
