From each generation fishermen come,
grandfathers, Fathers with sons and grandsons,
passing on skills and knowledge too
as succeeding ones form part of the crew.
Governed in life by the fall of the tide,
though rising or falling, the waves they ride,
knowing exactly where the shoals of fish
are lying in wait their nets to enrich.
Shoulder to shoulder they break not, nor bend,
on standing together their lives depend,
silently watching, each waiting for
that first glimpse of their beloved shore.
To feed mankind, both day and night,
whatever the weather, in any plight,
continuing to serve their whole lives through,
fishermen, brave, stalwart, valiant too.
