Man’s inhumanity to man is today desolate and bare,
unlike the teeming multitudes who were originally there.
A sombre time in history of humiliation and pain,
continual degradation, we remember the cost with shame.
Each succeeding generation must be told of this time and place,
of what so easily happens when there is violence and hate.
We must learn to build for the future nations of tolerance, not hate,
giving to all love and justice, whatever colour, creed or race.
